Doctor Who is a BBC show that has lasted over 60 years. It can do this because The Doctor can regenerate into a new body. Thus a whole bunch of people have been the titular Doctor.

Patrick Stewart is a national flippin’ treasure. Plus all anecdotal evidence suggests he could play the role a hundred different ways and they’d all be definitive. Not to mention he’d pull the Star Trek fans in as viewers.

Helen McCrory was Rosanna Calvierri in the Doctor Who episode The Vampires of Venice. Can you imagine the whole “I’ve seen this face before” plot the showrunners could do with that? Plus she’d make an interesting Doctor. Orlando Bloom

Tell me that Bill Nighy would not be a great Doctor. He’s been in the show before (Vincent and the Doctor) and, I mean, come on – he’d hardly have to act at all. He already radiates Doctor-knows-more-than-he-is-saying energy. Who would you pick?
